Spotlight Series: Year 1 Wrapped

2021 was a year when I got to travel and experience other lives without even leaving the city. It is the year when I created The Spotlight Series, where I interview and profile the many impressive women I have met, through work, fellowships, and by sheer chance. Everyone is always so gracious in expressing their thanks, but I know the biggest debt of gratitude is mine. It is a personal and professional joy for me to learn about how people live, what motivates them, what are the life experiences that shaped them (good, bad or otherwise), and how they find strength and energy.

For each profile shared so far, I learned something entirely new, both about the person and about life. It expanded my world in ways I did not know were possible. There is one theme that comes up often, and it is best summed up as "be less scared faster", something I heard at a Chicago Women in Philanthropy event. It resonated when I heard it in 2019, and it continues to resonate. If you haven't already, consider ending your year with a read about the marvelous personal lives and professional careers of Courtney Hrejsa, Alexis White, MBA, Claire Dorn, Crystal Cooper, Lisa-Ann Barnes, PMP, Megan Lane Conklin, Brittney Gale, Angelica Jacob, CPA and Clare McIntyre, CPA at bit.ly/shrutisaxena
